Love To Give
Sometimes the Bible makes it sound like having money is a crime. We’re all heard the warning that “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” And Jesus makes us squirm when he says, “Woe to you who are rich”--especially when we realize that compared to the rest of the world, most of us are loaded.
But money’s not all bad. It’s meant to be a blessing from God.
There are two kinds of giving in the New Testament. One is giving to help those who are going through hard times. As expected, the Bible says a lot about giving for the poor. The other is gospel giving, which is when we give to extend God’s message in people’s lives. That’s the one we’re going to learn about this morning.
To get yourself ready for Sunday, read these two examples of gospel giving in the New Testament: Luke 8:1-3 and Philippians 4:14-19.
